Key Stage 4 Curriculum
Key Stage 4 Study at Manshead CE Academy.
All students at Manshead CE Academy study a 2 year Key Stage 4. Students study a Core Curriculum of 16 hours. This includes study of Maths, English Language, English Literature, Science, Religious Education and PE (non-examined). All students have 9 hours of optional subject studies, each of 3 hours each.
The documents below outline the current programmes of study for our students in years 10 and 11.
Year 9 Options Letter
I am writing to you regarding Key Stage 4 option decisions that year 9 students will make over the next few weeks. To support the students in making their three option choices I enclose a Key Stage 4 Curriculum Booklet that outlines all the Core and Option subjects that students study in Years 10 and 11.
Over the next month we will support students in making their option choices by giving them time to consider the right courses for themselves. Students should read all the advice and guidance given in the booklet and consider the advice given from the Department of Education regarding the English Baccalaureate (or EBaac).
Included in the booklet is information regarding the three pathways available to students. Students should consider these pathways when making their decisions. We believe that any student can succeed on any course of study if it is part of a pathway that meets their individual needs as a learner. Please consider all the advice and guidance before making the option choices.
To support families in making these decisions we will take several supportive measures. Firstly, there was a virtual assembly to all students today. This assembly is available to view online for students who were unable to attend the assembly, and for parents. Later this week you will receive the latest progress data for students in their spring school report.
The assembly can be viewed on this page
Students can discuss their option choices with their subject teachers and parents can email teachers directly with any queries. These queries should be sent to email@example.com so that the query can be dealt with by the most appropriate person. Please let us know via the direct email if more direct support in choosing their options is required.
Please can the attached form be returned by Wednesday 23rd March 2022. Please note that student option forms will NOT be dealt with on a first come first served basis. All forms handed in by the deadline will be treated equally.
