Manshead School is a Church of England secondary school and sixth form located on the outskirts of Dunstable and Caddington in Bedfordshire. It sits on a large and beautiful site surrounded by countryside and the Chiltern Hills.
The school gets is unusual name from the ancient Manshead Hundred medieval administrative area which covered parts of south west Bedfordshire and included Dunstable.
The School is the modern successor to Dunstable Grammar School which existed from 1881 to 1971 when Bedfordshire County Council adopted the comprehensive system. From this time it moved to its present site and became an upper school educating pupils aged 13-18. In 2014 the school became a full secondary school accepting pupils at age 11. The school is administered by the Ashton Foundation, a Dunstable charity that supports Christian based education.
Today the school is a vibrant community of 1250 pupils serving the south eastern area of Dunstable and surrounding villages of Caddington, Slip End, Studham and Kensworth.
VALUES & ETHOS
Manshead School is a forward thinking, successful school where every student is encouraged to seek personal excellence.
We provide many opportunities for students to achieve success both in and out of the classroom. Our high quality curriculum is broad but personalised in order to meet the individual needs of our students. Students are provided with high quality advice and guidance to help them make preparations for life beyond school and a great number of our students progress to top universities and further study.
What makes our school so special is the emphasis that we place on supporting each individual. Our Learning Guide system provides the essential contact between home and school and allows parents, students and the school to monitor the progress of each individual very carefully. The school is a happy and calm place and behaviour is very good. We believe that high standards are important and we have high expectations of students. As a result students at Manshead perform very well.
Manshead School is a Church of England School and our ethos is underpinned by our core values of respect, responsibility, faith and compassion. We are also a school that values the community we are part of and we work closely with schools locally to ensure smooth transition to Manshead.
I hope that, as you read this prospectus, you will build up a picture of what Manshead can offer. Of course there is no substitute for seeing the school in action so if you would like to visit during the school day please contact us by phone or email (details on the Joining Us page of this website).
