As we lock up the library for the summer break, it’s good to reflect on some of the reading students have been doing this year….

Quizzes have been taken by almost 600 students who have quizzed on more than 5,000 books and clocked up over 227 million words. 1,100 reading awards have been presented to 244 students . . . and that is just Years 7, 8 and 9.

Mrs Lowther has added 686 new books to the shelves and 7, 430 loans have been made and with your help, 7,235 books have been returned. Keeping the list of overdue books to less than 200.

Most books on loan now are stamped for the first day of the new school year – 5th September – please encourage your young person to read them and then keep them safe till the return to school.

Links for the holidays to help young people enjoy the benefits of reading and avoid the summer slide including; Accelerated Reader for the holiday, free e-books on the myOn platform, public library opening times and music, e-books and audio books for free from the virtual library are below.

Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing students in the library in September
