Gold Award Presentation at Buckingham Palace
Peter is now a management trainee with Marks & Spencer and an Open University student, having completed his A-levels at Manshead last year. Also invited was Josh Puddefoot, who completed his Award at the same time as Peter, but Josh’s university would not release him to attend. (We hope that we can get away with a ‘Boo’ for that decision.)On 16th May, Peter Lawrence was part of a lucky group who received their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awards at Buckingham Palace in the presence of the Duke of Edinburgh himself. At the age of 94, Prince Philip usually no longer presents the Awards himself and nor are they presented at Buckingham Palace. However, 2016 is the 60th Anniversary of the foundation of the Award and Peter was lucky to be chosen as one of a group of recent achievers to receive their Award as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Lurking in the shadows in the Palace gardens were also Mr Parker and Mr Stowe, seen here receiving a plaque, now displayed in Manshead Reception, from Levi Roots, one of the celebrity guests.
