We are keen to support students to achieve all of their potential, not just in their academic results
This is about character, attitude, life-skills, employability, and self-belief. We always have so much going on and we hope that every one of our students will find an opportunity to get involved in something that captures their interest, aspiration and imagination, and that provides them with fun along the way.
Extra-curricular activities
Activities change according to demand and to the seasons, and Form Tutors will publish up-to-date timetables in their rooms.
There are curriculum support activities across many subjects at lunchtime and after academy. The Library is open before and after academy, at break time and at lunchtime for private study, including homework (8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 4.00pm Friday.) There is also a Homework Support Club in the Library on Thursdays after academy.
In addition there are sports teams in all year groups.
PiXL Edge
PiXL Edge is a framework for secondary schools and sixth form providers to develop and accredit student attitudes, attributes and skills essential for employability and life across all Year groups (Year 7 to Year 13).
Through a series of accredited tasks and activities (including target-setting and self-reflection) PiXL Edge enables students to systematically enhance their skills. There has previously been no national framework drawing together and accrediting the range of valuable activities which students undertake alongside their academic activities until now.
The LORIC Edge programme will allow students to develop and be accredited for five key attributes which have been especially chosen for their formative qualities in character development as well as their desirability by employers.

All students are introduced to The LORIC Edge programme and log their activities and provide evaluations for each one. We hope this will encourage them to get involved in as many extra-curricular opportunities as possible both in and out of school.
We want to ensure that students leave us leave us not only with the best qualifications possible but with a wide range of personal attributes allowing them to stand out from the crowd and achieve their goals.
School Production 2024 - CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
This year’s school production will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , with evening shows to be arranged for the Spring Term.
Further details will be give out soon. There are always opportunities for anyone to get involved at any stage, even if you don’t fancy the limelight, we always need a team of backstage helpers, set-builders and so on.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme
Students wishing to participate begin their Bronze Award at the start of Year 10. Watch out for the launch of the application process in assemblies towards the end of Year 9.
