Students demonstrate that they belong to the Manshead CE Academy community through the uniform that they wear. It is important that students wear the correct uniform at all times and that they take pride in their appearance. We firmly believe that whilst students are wearing their uniform they are representing the academy.
We are aware of the current cost of living crisis, so if you are struggling to purchase uniform, please do get in touch, and we will do our best to help.
Due to the generosity of our community we have a good selection of pre-loved uniform that has been kindly donated to the academy from parents and carers. Proceeds from the sale of this go to support 'Home-Start Central Bedfordshire', a local charity that supports local children and their families. Their website is https://www.home-startcentralbeds.org.uk/
The change to white shirts will be compulsory for Year 7 and Year 8 but will be phased in across the other year groups as and when they need to replace existing uniform.
- Box pleat skirts are compulsory for Years 7, 8 and 9 and will be phased in for the other year groups.
- Blazers are compulsory for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 and optional at this stage for the other year groups.

- Pencil case for pens, pencils, rubber, ruler, maths equipment (see Mathematics Department order form).
- A particular requirement at Manshead CE Academy is that students should have a green biro, a mini whiteboard and a non-permanent marker pen. Whiteboards and marker pens will be provided initially by the school, but if lost or damaged will need to be replaced by parents / carers.
- Equipment for Art lessons is shown on the Art Department order form
MOBILE Phones
We ask parents and carers please to bear in mind that all items are brought in to the academy entirely at the individual’s risk. This includes mobile phones, wallets, money and jewellery etc.
Manshead CE Academy prides itself on being a mobile phone free school. Since the introduction of Yondr Pouches (the system used to prevent students from using mobile phones during the school day), we have seen an improvement in students' behaviour, increased focus in lessons and more positive social interaction between our students. Please refer to our Mobile Phone Policy which provides clarification of our expectations for use of mobile phones (and smart watches) and explains the sanctions for misuse.
Mobile phones / smart watches are not to be used during school hours.
Every student in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 has a personal Yondr Pouch with their unique student Arbor Number written on it so the student can be traced if the pouch is misplaced. It is each student’s responsibility to bring their pouch with them to school every day.
During lessons such as PE , when students have to leave their clothes in the changing rooms, we provide a valuables box. We will do our best to keep any items in the valuables box safe, but no system is perfect and we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage from the box. The best protection is not to bring in to school any items of higher value than is strictly necessary.
Photographs of Students
From time to time we take and use photographs of students in celebration and promotional material (e.g. the academy prospectus, the photo galleries that are on our corridor walls, our website, newspaper articles etc.) and we will make sure that we have the appropriate permissions given by parents and carers prior to any use or publication:
- Photos may be used on Social Media.
- Photos may be used on local news media.
- Photos may be used on School Website.
- Photos may be on displays within school.
- Photos may be in the school prospectus.
