Transition Challenge

We would love for you to have a go at completing one of these challenges ready for when we meet you. They are designed to make you think about how you are feeling.

All entries will receive 5 credits in September and they can either be bought in with you or emailed to Transitions@mansheadschool.co.uk

  1. Create a poem based on how you feel about transitioning from your primary school to Manshead. For an extra challenge – can you make it rhyme?
  2. Write a short story about what you think your first day at Manshead will be like and how you think you may feel. Extra challenge – can you make it into a comic strip?
  3. Create a piece of art for the school – this could be anything from the buildings to uniform. Be creative but you must shoe five emotions you are feeling around your art work. Extra challenge – what weird and wonderful materials could you use for your art?

Worried or concerned about September? See this message from one of our students:

When I first came here I was so scared, and it was a big upgrade from my old school. It was massive, it still is but you get used to it and now I know my way off by heart. When I first came everyone was so scary to me. All the teachers and all the older years looked so scary but there were some teachers that I knew instantly I was going to get on with here are some: Mr McBurnie, Miss Allen, Mrs Niblock, Mr Matthews, Miss Wilsher-Wright,  Miss Chelaru, Miss Beeton, Mrs Lynam, Mrs Senft, Miss Tyndale and lots more who I can’t list as it would go on forever.

But there were also some teachers who I thought I would not like but did, and once you get to know them they are very nice. Another thing about the school is it looked so confusing and I didn’t know where to go. The 1st few days I got lost a little but in the end I found my way around and managed and, after a few days I could get around fine and I got to know the teachers well.

Some of you are thinking ‘why are you telling us this?’ Well my point is that it may look scary, but it is really good and you will find your way around so don’t be scared and if you need help, you can just ask.
